Exclusive: Life On The Sideline EP announcement, music video premiere
Since releasing Honesty Is A Dying Breed two years ago, Life On The Sideline has remained active on the road and is now ready to unveil its upcoming EP, Never Settle. To kick things off, we're premiering the music video for the band's new single, "Echo", which tells the sad story of a young girl reminiscing times spent with her deceased partner. While not a pop punk song per se, it's as catchy as one with an infectious chorus that you'll inevitably get stuck in your head. The band's sound could be compared to that of Transit's and The Early November's. Fans can pre-order the EP on iTunes and CD here, before it's released on June 7th. […]

Band of the Week: We Still Dream
Over the years, we've known countless local bands, some of which have go on to persevere and reach another level - enter We Still Dream, a group that I've been listening to since 2008's Oh Snap! EP. A debut album and 3-song EP later, the band is on the verge of releasing quite possibly its best material yet: Something To Smile About will be dropping on August 6th via Anchor Eighty Four Records and is already cemented in my top 5 list for 2013. In case you've missed them, the band has released two songs from the album, which I highly recommend you give a shot. Click the Read More… link to stream the songs.

Band of the Week: Meridian
Meridian has produced a standout record, which has already secured a spot on my AOTY list, and hopefully many others'. We've proudly supported the melodic hardcore group since its inception and have watched them impress fans and bands alike, eagerly anticipating a full release. The band's first three singles served as a teaser, and did just that all too well, which are also featured on Reformation, plus new material that is sure to please fans of The Ghost Inside or Counterparts, and hopefully reel in new listeners into a scene that has so much to offer. Check them out and let us know what you think! Click the Read More… link to stream the album.

Band of the Week: Take First Place
In case you've missed our previous coverage on the band, Take First Place is a band from Springfield, OH, which recently released its debut EP, titled Childhood. The five-piece revives a classic easycore sound that flourished years ago, but just isn't as common anymore. Fans of old-school Carridale and Three Cent Cinema will especially enjoy this. The EP is available now on iTunes, but you can also hear two singles below. Check them out and let us know what you think! Click the Read More… link to stream the songs.

Band of the Week: Former States
Former States is one of the newest additions to the evergrowing talented list of upcoming pop punk/emo bands. Hot on the heels of releasing their debut EP, Heritage, which was recorded with and produced by Nick Diener of The Swellers, the band is currently focusing on playing shows and spreading their name into the scene. I highly recommend giving these guys a chance, especially if you enjoy bands to the tune of Citizen, Class Picture, and Molly's Worst Enemy. Click the Read More… link to stream the EP.

Band of the Week: The Directive
This week we've featured our Macomb, Michigan friends from The Directive. Coming off the recent release of their sophomore EP, I Hope This Helps, the band has been gaining a well-deserved amount of exposure, with plans to tour extensively this summer. If you can imagine, the new songs offer a somewhat toned-down sound, when compared to bands like In Her Own Words or For The Win, blended with emo rock traits, resulting in a much more mature aesthetic to the band's previous material. Band of the Week: Johnny Tenspeed
Our most recent band of the week victor is a new group from Troy, Ohio by the name of Johnny Tenspeed. They recently released a 4-song EP called So Long, Scoot, which is on the heavier end of the pop punk spectrum, and if it's to their benefit at all, I've had it on constant rotation since it came out. This five-piece isn't too concerned with catchy hooks, but more so with other techniques found in some emo-esque bands that produce a gloomier end result. The band also plans to release a new split with Take First Place this summer. Click the Read More… link to stream the EP.

Band of the Week: Thesis
Thesis is a new pop punk/punk band that could be to Australia what Real Friends is to the US or Neck Deep to the UK. The band's recently-released debut EP, titled Worth The Wait, would've been just that to those anticipating it. The songs demonstrate a compelling and hard-hitting sound, which also serves as a reminder that we have much more to offer than just radio-friendly pop rock bands. The band isn't reinventing any wheels, but they have definitely used the finest tools to carve theirs. Click the Read More… link to stream the EP.

Band of the Week: Here's To The Heroes
Here's To The Heroes is a pop punk/hardcore band from Cincinnati, OH that we've been covering for several years now. Throughout its career, the band has let loose several EPs, a music video, and recently a new single called After The Rain, which will appear on its debut full-length - American Lights is slated for a summer release on Stand Firm Records. I'm happy to see that the band has stayed true to its high-energy synth-infused sound, which some might not consider as common nowadays. Click the Read More… link to stream the EPs and song and watch the video.

Band of the Week: Troubled Coast
I still remember when this talented group of individuals approached us in early-2011 with their then-new album, Letters, and I was blown away. Troubled Coast is a 6-piece post-hardcore/emo band from East Bay, CA that only formed in 2009, but is already five releases (including two full-lengths) deep into its prosperous career. In August of last year, the band joined the Pure Noise Records family and has since put out a new EP and full-length (streaming below), only to attain further, well-deserved exposure.
