Exclusive: Life On The Sideline EP announcement, music video premiere

Since releasing Honesty Is A Dying Breed two years ago, Life On The Sideline has remained active on the road and is now ready to unveil its upcoming EP, Never Settle. To kick things off, we're premiering the music video for the band's new single, "Echo", which tells the sad story of a young girl reminiscing times spent with her deceased partner. While not a pop punk song per se, it's as catchy as one with an infectious chorus that you'll inevitably get stuck in your head. The band's sound could be compared to that of Transit's and The Early November's. Fans can pre-order the EP on iTunes and CD here, before it's released on June 7th. […]

Throwback: Senses Fail - "Buried A Lie" Music Video

In the early 2000s, it was all the rage for contemporary screamo/post-hardcore bands to employ synchronised physical characteristics (see band photo/video), but I feel as though the music itself was overlooked to some degree. Senses Fail, Finch, The Used, Hawthorne Heights, and others boosted this melodic, not-too-soft-not-too-heavy sound into the mainstream, paving a path for today's pop punk/hardcore hybrids that blend similar styles in different ways. I was also guilty of naively lumping these bands and their fans into the "emo" genre, but I know better now. Many of us grew up on this era, which served as an introduction into heavier music and a broader taste in music. I admire and thank Senses Fail for carrying out its decade-long musical career in such an honest and humble manner. I really hope their ethics rub off on younger bands. Below, I'll leave you wish Senses Fail's video for "Buried A Lie", taken from their debut album, Let It Enfold You, which is turning ten next year!

What were some of your favourite bands/releases from the early 2000s?
