Exclusive: Life On The Sideline EP announcement, music video premiere

Since releasing Honesty Is A Dying Breed two years ago, Life On The Sideline has remained active on the road and is now ready to unveil its upcoming EP, Never Settle. To kick things off, we're premiering the music video for the band's new single, "Echo", which tells the sad story of a young girl reminiscing times spent with her deceased partner. While not a pop punk song per se, it's as catchy as one with an infectious chorus that you'll inevitably get stuck in your head. The band's sound could be compared to that of Transit's and The Early November's. Fans can pre-order the EP on iTunes and CD here, before it's released on June 7th. […]

Review: Latin For Truth - "Youth Crew Blues"

Release InfoLatin For Truth - Youth Crew Blues
Record Label: Better Days Records/Team Shithead
Release Date: October 25, 2011
Buy: Better Days Records/iTunes

Youth Crew Blues - not quite Latin For Truth's Chinese Democracy, though a record which cleared a remarkable amount of hurdles to reach your ears. Simply put, this record is a collection of self-realising songs which deal with one's own idealism and other everyday struggles, backed by solid Posi Melodic Hardcore.

I think it's safe to say the UK loves Easycore, with countless bands having crossed our radar over the years. Out of Wakefield, We Stand Victorious recently released, Forever Down But Never Out, and here is my review of the band's 6-track debut EP.

Review: Transit - "Listen & Forgive"

Release InfoTransit - Listen & Forgive
Record Label: Rise Records
Release Date: October 4, 2011
Pre-order: MerchNOW

Over time, Transit have shown nothing but sheer progress, release after release. However, since the band is so involved within today's Pop Punk renaissance, it seems like expectations can sometimes cloud listeners' judgements if they don't happen to receive a straight up Pop Punk record. The positive to this is that the fans who are loyal and open-minded enough to stick around, will be well rewarded.

Release Info Fine Young Firecrackers - From The Ground Up EP

The UK has to be in the top five sources to churn out top notch music, with Fine Young Firecrackers being the latest addition to our list. Out of Liverpool, the band is gearing up to release their debut EP, From The Ground Up, on top of their recent music video. We were lucky enough to listen to the EP before its release, so here are my thoughts.

Review: On My Honor - "Nature & Nurture" EP

Release InfoOn My Honor - Nature & Nurture EP
Record Label: Little Heart Records
Release Date: September 6, 2011
Pre-order: Big Cartel

On My Honor isn't your typical Pop Punk band, drawing predominant influences from bands to the tune of The Starting Line, Relient K, and Jimmy Eat World. I've said in the past that Pop Punk can be somewhat of a rigid genre, though I do believe there are always exceptions, and On My Honor is one of them.

Review: The Tired And True - "Haunts" EP

Release InfoThe Tired And True - Haunts EP
Record Label: Eulogy Recordings
Release Date: August 23, 2011
Pre-order: Bandcamp

Haunts is The Tired And True's successor to their 2010 debut full-length, Scenarios. Right off the bat, one of the most audibly apparent aspects to the EP is the overall improvement in the band's musicianship. Mixed and mastered by Hardcore icon, Jay Maas, the release promises to please.

Review: Tag Your Targets/Hot Damn - Split EP

Release InfoTag Your Targets/Hot Damn - Split EP
Record Label: Hang Tight Records
Release Date: August 1, 2011

For decades, splits have always been a great way for bands to collaborate in unison, while also exchanging potential fans. However, what we don't always see is bands collaborating across different countries. From Sweden, Tag Your Targets, and from Wales, Hot Damn will be releasing their upcoming split on Hang Tight Records. This will be Tag Your Targets' first official release, while Hot Damn released an EP just earlier this year.

Review: Boys No Good - "Never Felt Better"

Release InfoBoys No Good - Never Felt Better
Record Label: Indianola Records
Release Date: July 26, 2011
Pre-order: MerchNOW

Listening to Boys No Good's upcoming full-length, Never Felt Better, is quite a blast from the past. At times Pop Punk can be somewhat of a rigid genre, so each time that we tell you a certain band stands out from the rest, we mean it. Having said this, don't let any part of this record review mean any less, because you're about to hear it again.

Michigan is no stranger to dishing out top-notch Pop Punk, being the origin of many favourites of ours, such as Act As One, We Are The Union, and Citizen. The latest addition to our collection is a Pop Punk/Easycore band out of Lansing, MI, by the name of Hometeam. The 4-piece have been hard at work getting their name out, and are now preparing to put out their self-released EP.

Review: Still Rings True - "Tear Down The Walls"

Release InfoStill Rings True - Tear Down The Walls
Record Label: Third Time Lucky Rekords
Release Date: June 10, 2011
Pre-order: Big Cartel

When I think of Still Rings True, I think of straight-to-the-point, no-bullshit, socially-conscious Punk Rock. This band's breed of Punk Rock, Pop Punk, Hardcore, whatever you wanna call it, is unfortunately, a scarce one. I think in order to accurately break down the band's upcoming album, Tear Down The Walls, it's best to start from the beginning.

Review: Troubled Coast - "Letters"

Release InfoTroubled Coast - Letters
Record Label: Creator-Destructor Records
Release Date: March 22, 2011
Buy: Big Cartel or Bandcamp

Good good things are happening in Hardcore these days. It's not to say it's all good, but with bands such as Title Fight, Rust Belt Lights, and Defeater, I think it's safe to say the future of the genre is in more-than-capable hands. Troubled Coast are a Post-Hardcore/Indie/Experimental band from the California Bay Area, who are following in these same footsteps.
